Happy Friday!

This weekend, it's Dageraad's world and we're just living in it. The brewery is celebrating its birthday on Saturday with some new releases, one of which is our recommended weekend beer. In a world full of IPAs, I for one appreciate Dageraad's phenolic treats. If you needed an excuse to take a break from the juicy hazy stuff, this seems like the perfect excuse.

What to drink this weekend

Wine or beer?

Who says you need to choose between one or the other? This beer brings the best of both worlds together. Take a look at that beautiful colour; it's ridiculously inviting. This saison was aged on spent Syrah grapes (pomace). The result is an unexpectedly light and easy-drinking beer that may sneak up on you with its 8.6% ABV. White-wine aromas, fruity flavours, it might remind you more of a rosé than a saison.

Party like it's 2014

Hopefully, you caught this event in last week's weekend primer, but if not, not to worry, we've got your back! Tomorrow, Dageraad, home of so many delicious Belgian-inspired ales is celebrating its eighth anniversary. Pop by the brewery and enjoy live rockabilly music, a bunch of new releases, all of which we have profiled for you in the last week.

Party like it's 2019

It's been three years since Phillips hosted a party at its brewery, and that's three years too long. Glitterbomber is a weekend concert series, with this being the first one of the season. The festival includes international headliners, fresh Canadian talent, and rising local stars.

• May 14 lineup: Future Islands, The Zolas, Begonia, Pastel Blank + more.

• May 15 lineup: Bryce Vine, Durand Jones & The Indications, Astrocolor, Murge’s Golden Era of Hip Hop, Young Negrensé + more.

Can't make it this weekend? There's more than one. The next festival takes place July 9 to 10 and Aug. 13 to 14.

Continue to party like it's 2019

Dageraad isn't the only one celebrating an anniversary this weekend. House of Funk turns three years old and has a bunch of festivities kicking off at noon tomorrow.

• Tattoos: noon until late (time to get a citra hop tattooed on your forearm?).

Tall Glass of Drag at Luppolo

Luppolo - home of delicious slow-pour beers and pizza. On Sunday, Shanda Leer is hosting a drag show with Belladonna Vonshade, Jerrilynn Spears, and Mx. Bukuru at the brewery.

Storm Loading Docs Summer Parties

Storm Brewing is back with its once/month outdoor party, with the first one taking place next weekend, May 22 from 12 pm to 8pm. Rotating DJs including DJ Native, The Willist, Beatfarmer, Canzino, DeeVee, At Your Leisure, and the Strategist.

• Details: No cover, kids allowed if accompanied.
