WHERE TO GO: FEATURED PATIOS

Parallel 49 Brewing

It's amazing what a bit of art on the walls can do to brighten a place up. The patio experience at Parallel 49 is top-notch. A beautiful mural, trees, picnic tables, umbrellas, night lighting, an in-house kitchen, all make it a reliable place to have an extended session. Combined with its massive selection of beers there will be something on the menu for every type of beer drinker in your party.

🍺 What to drink: If you find yourself there on a colder day, get Ruby Tears, a red ale with wonderful caramel malt flavour and a snap of west coast hop aromas. The bitterness is restrained, making it easy to drink.

  • Food options: A food truck is parked inside, offering burgers, fries, poutine, guac and chips, calamari, croquetas, wings, and sweets. Lots to choose from.

  • Brewery location: 1950 Triumph St., Vancouver | Map

La Cerveceria Astilleros

If you're looking to getaway to Mexico without having to deal with airport lineups and expensive flights, this brewery and patio is for you. The atmosphere is always great with beautiful blue tiled decor inside and out.

🍺 What to drink: Go with the Salted Lime Lager, the beer that not only started it all for this brewery, but tastes amazing on a patio. Brewed with Spanish salt and conditioned on fresh Mexican limes, it screams summer.

  • Food options: Guac and chips, and a large variety of tacos, plus a classic Mexican churro if you have a sweet tooth.

  • Brewery location: 226 Esplanade E, North Vancouver | Map

  • Bakery Brewing has cozy booths and a taproom that invites you to enjoy the many experimental and small-batch brews on offer.

  • North Point Brewing has a lodge-like ambience, a unique Hefeweizen and awesome pizza.

  • Container Brewing gives you a relaxed lounge, their hazy IPA and a food truck offering chicken/eggplant parmesan.

Driftwood Brewing

The first in our series The Great BC Beer-Off, where your favourite BC beers face off against each other, is over.

In the end, it wasn't that close. While Geoff was hoping for Phillips Blue Buck to take the prize, the memefied Fat Tug from Driftwood proved to be too much, winning 71% of the vote.

Upcoming events

We're constantly refreshing our list of upcoming beer events in and around B.C. Check them out and send us suggestions!

WHAT TO DRINK

Go deep on pineapple

This beer is so fresh, it didn't make our Tuesday lineup of new releases. It's that new. Chilliwack's Farmhouse Brewing Co is bringing on the summer flavours with this light salted sour, with the addition of pineapple. The pineapple salt is local, from BC's own Vancouver Island Sea Salt.

🍍Want a pineapple hit but can't get to Chilliwack?

  • House of Funk Brewing's Funk Juice is soured with the brewery's wild house yeast and fermented with Kveik before conditioning on an "irresponsible amount of pineapple and coconut."

  • Old Yale Brewing has a limited release sour with pineapple and Galaxy hops.

🧂Love gose but aren't satisfied with just one?

Something fun

As beautiful as intergalactic pics, really.
