Cocktail Hour
Your weekend primer
Happy Friday!
There’s rain in the forecast, so might as well escape somewhere tropical, yeah? Four breweries are releasing bright, citrusy, tropical cocktail-inspired ales this weekend and it seems about right for the occasion. Play some cocktail jazz in the background and you’re set.
The Langley Loop makes a return this weekend and getting chauffeured to five breweries seems like a lovely way to spend a Saturday afternoon. — Joseph Lavoie

What to drink this weekend
Cocktails, anyone?
Zesty
Bakery Brewing dropped two new beers yesterday and they are the perfect weekend beers for cocktail fans:
Paloma Sour: “a bright and juicy Paloma cocktail-inspired sour ale brewed with lime juice, grapefruit zest, hibiscus flowers, and pink sales.”
Bergamot and Citrus Wild IPA: “An intensely aromatic and lightly tart IPA brewed with Brettanomyces, grapefruit zest, lemon zest, and finished on Earl Grey tea.”
Where to get it: In bottles at the brewer.

Mexican Lime Sour
What happens when you mix a Mexican light lager with a citus-forward kettle sour? 123 Sourveza is what. Faculty Brewing released this in time for the weekend and the description is rather enticing.
Description: “Expect aromas of citrus fruit and banana, a tart lemon-lime punch up front, and a crispy clean lager-like finish.”
Where to get it: Available in cans at the brewery
Location: 1830 Ontario St, Vancouver | Google Maps
Give me some Passionfruit
Made in collaboration with Brassneck, this new release is a French-style saison dosed with passionfruit. The high carbonation and dry finish should brighten up a rainy day.
Where to get it: Available on tap and in 4-packs at the brewery today. Liquor stores starting next week.
Location: 345 Clark Dr, Vancouver | Google Maps
Gin and Lime, please
Yesterday Dageraad dropped this spritzy delight and with only 29 cases bottled, you’ll want to move quickly to get your hands on a bottle or two.
Details: “We filled gin barrels with a blend of Burnabrian, lacto and brett and left it at time’s mercy for about a year. A little saaz dry-hopping and a couple hundred limes after aging and this spirited, tangy beer is ready to add some sparkle and shine to your day.
Where to get it: Available on tap and in 4-packs at the brewery today. Liquor stores starting next week.
