Peaches, Kilts, and Beasts 🍑🏴🔥
Your weekend primer
What to drink
Take yourself somewhere sunny
Maybe it’s all the sunshine we had this week, but it has me yearning for an escape to somewhere with loads of sunshine. The next closest thing may just be this new beer from Bricklayer Brewing in Chilliwack.
The beer: Peach Plum Pear Golden Ale
A mouthful, yes, but filled with loads of Amarillo hops – think floral, fruity, and peachy - combined with a load of plums and pears that were added after fermentation.
Brewer’s Notes
You shut your eyes and try and chase them down with your taste buds and all of a sudden it’s easy to imagine a warm breeze…and hear some waves crashing…all of a sudden you're somewhere far away – maybe a tiny bar on the Italian coastline? I mean, in real life you are sitting at Five Corners in Chilliwack but this beer makes it easier to see the beauty of it all.
What to do
Three more days for Victoria Beer Week
After two years of cancellations, it’s time to overload on beer festivals. No need to wait for summer to get back on to the circuit – Victoria Beer Week has been in full swing since last week, and if you haven’t been yet, good news – you still have time, and there is a LOT to take in:
Dubbel Down—a night of Belgian inspired beers and cuisine (Friday)
Touchdown— a hot ticket with live music, knockout games, brewery awards and the final results of the inaugural Gnome Quest (Saturday)
Plan Ahead
Kilts Optional at this Cask Ale Festival
Cask ales are no easy find in BC, so when a festival pops up dedicated to this delicious and delightful drinking experience, my eyes pop out! Thankfully it’s kilts optional – I may muster the courage to sport a kilt after I’ve enjoyed real ale...
