A stunning new brewery just opened on Vancouver Island

Plus a great beer fest and free beer for six months

It's Friday!

I'm one week away from a short trip to Montreal and uncharacteristically, I've yet to plan the breweries I'll visit while there. If you have any recommendations for me, please hit me up with a reply!

A new brewery has opened on the Island, and it boasts a charming tap room, books, and lager pours that will bring world peace change your life.

Brewhalla is taking over Port Moody this weekend. Beer, live music, dancing? Twist my arm.

And we're giving away free beer for six months. Yes, you read that right.

Enjoy the weekend!

WHAT TO DRINK THIS WEEKEND

A twist of Sangria

With another blast of heat coming this weekend, a Sangria seems like the appropriate way to deal with it. This smoothie sour from Fieldhouse Brewing features peaches, tart cherries, dark cherries and blood orange. It was also blended with old wine zinfandel and white rum, which pretty much makes it like the real thing. At only 5%, you can enjoy a couple.

  • Available: On tap only, at the tap room in Chilliwack

  • Location: 9251 Woolly Dog Alley #102, Chilliwack | Map

Here are 13 other beers that came out this week, if you want to explore more.

HAPPENING THIS WEEKEND

NEW BREWERY ALERT

Slow pours with Small Gods

Small Gods Brewery is now open in Sidney and the taproom looks stunning. The creative vision is unique, with a focus on literature, so we look forward to becoming cultured with a beer in hand. Congrats to the Small Gods team — opening a brewery is no easy feat. If you're in the area, go out of your way to support them. Besides, they offer a slow pour, and we LOVE a slow pour.**

** How slow? It might take up to seven minutes. Worth it. It will change your life.

WHAT'S BREWING AT BC BREWERIES

Deals, announcements, re-releases, and other news from your favourite breweries
  • Superflux has a Hot Dog Happy Hour, Monday to Friday, 1 to 4 pm. This week's feature is the Roma Dog.

  • Patina Brewing is putting on live music on the patio Wednesdays from 6 to 9 pm

  • Steel & Oak has a decoction-mashed German Hefeweizen. A fancy term for using a different process to extract the sugars from the malts. Purists think it's the best way to make beer. Try for yourself. I did, and thoroughly enjoyed this beer.

  • The new food menu launches at Five Roads in Langley. Full carousel of food pics here.
