10 awesome upcoming beer events you need to check out

Patio concerts, festivals, and a blueberry basil sour beer

It's Friday!

A big thanks to Kyle of BC Brews for sending me recommendations for my recent trip to Montreal. Mellön Brasserie makes incredibly delicious beers if you're ever in the city and want a fantastic recommendation. It was the highlight of my visit. My friend's highlight? The only smoked meat sandwich anyone should ever have: Schwartz's Deli. Now back to beer...

We want to hear from you - what's your favourite beer you drank this summer? We'll feature your responses in a story later this summer. Tell us here.

Today we've got a featured beer that pairs blueberry and basil in a creamy sour concoction. We also have an interesting lineup of upcoming events and a large list of events happening this weekend, including two different patio concerts.

Plus, a Vancouver brewery has opened up a new café. Can you guess who? Scroll down to find out.

And most importantly, enjoy the weekend!

BEER LOOP JULY BEERS

The best beers we drank in July

Four Winds (Delta): Pequeno Cabo

This beautiful sour has tequila and oak in the nose, making for a wonderful sensory experience every time you take a sip. A light tart start to the mouth gives way to more beautiful tequila and oak flavours on the tongue. The tartness returns in the aftertaste. An escape. Simply delicious.

Von Ebert (Portland): Living on Borrowed Time

This blend of puncheon-aged and founder-aged mixed culture beer was conditioned on cherries and marionberries. If you love wood-aged beers or fruit-forward beers, this one is a must-have in your bottle collection. I enjoyed this in the company of 10 future brewers and the consensus around the table was that this was an incredible beer. We savoured every sip and enjoyed the clean acidity, dry finish, and burst of cherry notes.
