What to drink and do this weekend
Happy Friday!
Question: Does summer officially begin on the May long weekend, or the day the City of Vancouver allows public consumption of alcohol?
Answer: Who cares? It's June 3, and that means the City's Parks Pilot has relaunched. From today though to Oct. 16, we can officially enjoy a beer in the park with friends or family in 22 of the city's parks. Now, if only Mother Nature could give us a bit of sunshine to mark the occasion....
For those of you not in Vancouver, we will save you the sordid history of how long it took for Vancouver to allow public drinking!
We've got the full list for you below, as well as a list of Farmers Markets in Vancouver, if you're popping by the city, worth visiting if you want to be efficient in shopping for your organics and beer.
Looking for a long read to go with that beer? Skip down to our weekend reads to learn more about a style that hasn't caught on here (yet), but is getting traction in Italy.

What to drink this weekend
Sometimes a light lager is all you need
To celebrate legalized drinking in parks, we think this beer is the perfect companion to mark the occasion. Icy-Cool Lager from Superflux, is a simple light lager that won't distract you from enjoying the park. No need to analyze this beer or obsess over its hop profile. Crack open, drink from the can, enjoy its super light malt profile. Crisp, clean, light, easy.
Where to get it: On tap or in tall-cans at the brewery.

Pineapple Punch
Backcountry Brewing has released this doozy of an IPA, Punch It, which promises a load of pineapple flavour, because it's also packed with actual pineapple. Combine that with the clean citrus and peach flavours of Galaxy hops and this one looks like it'll sell out quick
Details: 6.7% ABV, 30 IBU
Where to get it: Only available at the brewery
Brewery location: 405-1201 Commercial Way, Squamish | Map

**A footnote? Are you kidding me? Sorry, one more thing, just sure to do it between the hours of 11 am and 9 pm.
