The OG brewery with a great patio

A beer crawl to check out, two brewery patios worth your time and a why black IPAs are polarizing

Happy Friday!

We've got some new patios to check out, a fun bike/beer crawl and some deals/merch launches from local breweries.

I have one small favour to ask — can you forward this newsletter, or share this link with your friends who love beer? The more people who join, the more giveaways, discounts and stories we can do. Share on Facebook and Twitter

Enjoy the weekend!

WHERE TO GO: FEATURED PATIOS

Strange Fellows

One of Vancouver's favourite tasting rooms, thanks to its very friendly and welcoming staff, Strange Fellows also has a patio which serves as the resting place for the countless number of outdoor events the brewery puts on all summer.

🍺 What to drink: While you could go with the brewery's very popular Talisman American pale ale, try something rustic with the equally popular Strange Resemblance farmhouse saison.

  • Food options: Nicli pizza, charcuterie plates, Jamaican patties, pretzels and nuts from a small kitchen. Stay tuned, soon the brewery will have its own food truck permanently parked outside.

  • Brewery location: 1345 Clark Dr., Vancouver | Map

Callister Brewing

We should all pay a visit to Callister Brewing at some point in our travels. It originally launched as an incubator for other breweries and in some ways, without Callister, you wouldn't have Superflux, Night Owl, Boombox, Real Cask Ales, among others. So, when you're ready to pay tribute, or support a business that has supported so many others over the years, you can do so knowing delicious beer and a great patio awaits you.

🍺 What to drink: With 12 rotating taps, including three cask engines for those looking for a proper British beer experience, you have plenty of options. Try the Cuban Taxi, a guava gose. Lots of tropical fruit, and a soft luscious mouth feel.

  • Food options: Limited pub snacks, so come here for a starter if you're planning a day or night out.

  • Brewery location: 1338 Franklin St., Vancouver | Map

As a dog owner, I can't help but share brewery dog picks. Barnside posted what can only be described as an extremely cool pup.

BEERLOOP COMMUNITY

Langford Beer Festival problems?

One reader chimed in with their opinion about the Langford Beer Festival:

"Let’s hope the next Langford Beerfest is a lot more organized – access took over an hour and the venue was shoulder to shoulder crammed with far too many people for it’s size. Wait times for samples were running 15-20 minutes for the popular stuff. Expand it onto the field or sell half as many tickets next year."
